We realized over thirty years ago that we had to be very mindful of what we eat, but most importantly, how we cook. My sister and I were raising my 5-year-old son together after my divorce and soon realized he was manifesting signs of obesity. At that crucial time, we knew our eating habits had to change in order to help him. Like many southerners, we grew up in a household with a mother who loved cooking rich and tasty food at least two meals a day.
Now, cooking healthy for us means preparing our favorite recipes that we learned from our mother, but not compromising on her home cooked taste that we grew to love. We share these same recipes in our cookbook that we have prepared for over thirty years, but with health conscious ingredients. We also offer a line of salt-free seasonings to enhance the home cooked taste, but help control the sodium intake.
In 2010, we created Healthy Delight Cupcakes that contained half the calories of a regular cupcake and participated in Health Fairs. In 2013, we published Home Cooking Made Healthy Cookbook and created a salt-free seasoning line.
